SANTA BARBARA – A new business and technology center is opening its doors to small businesses looking for a collaborative workspace.
The business center called Synergy is designed for high tech start-ups. The 6,500 square foot building on Calle Cesar Chavez is the newest business incubator. The concept is to bring together small start-up businesses looking to grow and help out fellow entrepreneurs. The center is equipped with three conference rooms, a kitchen and movable walls that can be reconfigured to suit the needs of the companies.
“This is a place for people work together, to grow their businesses and launch them to the next level and for specifically people interested in getting out of their house, getting out of their bedroom, getting out of their kitchen work area and moving to sort of a collaborative, flexible, low-cost workspace, this is the perfect environment in downtown Santa Barbara,” said Synergy Founder Michael Holliday. Holliday has a business of his own and needed a flexible workspace for his architecture company. He wanted to provide the same space for other businesses.
The workspace can be rented out month-to-month or on a long-term basis.Synergy Business and Technology Center will open next month to 30 to 35 people and their businesses. The center will host the MIT Enterprise Forum on Wednesday night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The program will talk about business incubators on the Central Coast.
